This is totally O/T but what you reckon girls?
On average if your monthly mortgage replayments cost £600, how much on top of that would you be expecting to be paying towards the montlhy outgoings of running a house ( exc car insurance/tax/petrol)

When we had out flat, before we moved into my dads house, we were about £300 a month in rent (council), £100 for council tax, then gas and electric (meters) was about £80-100 a month for both (I think). Then our sky tv, home insurance, and food for the month.... about another £300 ish. So thats about £800 a month, give or take. More if it was winter lol cos we would have the heating on all the time!

Depends - if you live alone, then your council tax is 25% less?

I would allow:

Council tax - £120 - depending on area/ size of house)
Water, gas & Electric - £150

So yeah, probably as Zeps says - another £300 - i always budget over the top, then you knw you have enough! xx

Council Tax - £100 per month
Gas & Electric - £150 per quarter in the winter, £100 per quarter in the summer (this will vary depending on your appliances!!!) - Approx £45 per month
Water & Sewerage - £250 per year (unmetered) - Approx £20 per month
Contents Insurance - £8 per month
Buildings Insurance (ours is included in the maintenance charge)

So house only is around £235 per month for house bills

Plus Mortgage, Sky, Internet, Phone, Food...

God this is depressing!!!

We work it out that my wage pays everything we need, like the rent, all the bills and insurances, food, fuel for the car etc etc and Wulls wage is our spending money for anything else we need (its paying for the wedding just now). That way if one of us loses our job, we are always going to be ok cos one wage will cover us for everything
