Dress Alterations

My bridesmaids dress has come in for my 10 year old neice and I think its to small as to tight under the arms so that if she raisers her arms the whole thing lifts up? According to the shop that can be changed to make the arm holes bigger?
Has anymore else come across this? Do you think it is possible?
I cant get an appointment with the lady that does the alterations for another 3 weeks and I dont think I can wait that long for a decision as it makes it very close my my wedding date. Cheers in advance x

Thanks all, I think she felt sorry for me panicing with the dress and managed to fit her and in its all going to be fine!! Apparently it happens all the time
