ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH How childish are some people?

Sorry Girls, this is nothing wedding related but i need to vent and I know how fab you girls are!

I have a friend (we will refer to her as Mary) who i've know since uni and have always ad a good relationship with, there is also another friend (for this purpose I will call her Jo) who I know through Mary. Anyways Jo and I have really hit it off over the last couple of years and her and her hubby and little girl are coming up at Easter to stay with me and Rich.

Mary has found out and has gone nuts about it. She has spent all day texting me and calling Jo all sorts of awful names and being really horrid (they are meant to have been best mates since school). I have told Mary I don't want to discuss it as who I am friends with is nothing to do with her, but she has spent all day telling me I am a shit friend and that me and Jo are not allowed to be friends.

Mary ditched all of us when her hubby came on scene and since she has had her daughter she has just got worse. She refuses to go out the house, won't travel to see anyone, refuses to drive with the her daughter in the car and basically expects everyone to go to her (she lives about 200 miles away). Now when her daughter was new born I totally understood, but she is nearly 18 months old and although I don;t have kids I do appreciate that it is recommended that kiddies are not in those car seats for more than 2 hours without a break, but there are plenty of services between her and us which she could stop at with no trouble! My others have travelled right from babies being a few weeks old!

Is it me or is this absolutely pathetic????

She sounds very insecure!

I suppose it depends how much you think of your friendship with mary as to what you want to do? You could try having a conversation with her explaining you do have the ability to be friends with more than one person, and that you gain different things from both her and Jo, and that you will be friends with both of them?

Or, you can tell her she is being selfish and insecure and you dont want anything more to do with her??

But as i said, it depends on what you feel and think about her?

I personally think she is being a little unreasonable, and would say its cos she is so insecure. However, i would be very miffed and cross that she was slagging another friend off so blatantly, and that would make me wonder what she was saying about me behind my back?

cheers hun! I have tried to talk to her and it just doesn't sink in! I've tried to explain that i am friends with them both and all she has done is get shirty and slag off Jo. I rang Jo last night in cas Mary had said anything to her and to let her know that irrespective i still want them to come up cos it will be lovely to see them only to discover that Mary had been texting Jo being all lovey dovey and slagging me off. No although I did tell Jo some of what Mary had said about her (mainly the bits about her 'clinging to friends that belonged to her') but i left out the really nasty stuff, like Mary saying Jo was false, only interested in what she could get out of someone... but I can't have a go at Mary for slagging me off without her knowing Jo and I have spoken which will only make the whole thing worse.

I kept telling her i wasn't prepared to discuss it but Mary just kept on and on, so in the end i told her i wasn't i wanted to remain friends with someone who so blatantly slags off one of her closest friends to a mutal friend.

Arrrrrgggghhhhh she's in her 30's for F*#k sake!!!!! Anyone would think she was 5

As i said, desperately insecure!

Think you're better off without this scary Mary in your life!!

She obviously has no idea how to conduct proper relationships. I would drop all contact with her personally.
