Having to cancel the castle Empty Having to cancel the castle

Post  zepsgal (admin) Sat Apr 24, 2010 11:53 am

Well, I went to the castle today to show my sisters. Walked up the long steep path, and saw the castle is covered on three sides with scaffolding. Will upload pics so you can see it.

Gutted, I cant believe they didnt even tell me that it was happening. The woman at the castle said it would be down in about October, maybe longer.

So we went to Huntingtower castle in Perth, cos this was my second choice of venue. They still have my date available, so Im going to try and swap to that castle. It does say in my terms and conditions that there might be building work taking place in the venue (not mine specifically, its a general t&c) but I just didnt expect this to happen.

Im hoping that they will let me swap to Huntingtower, and not try to keep the money I have paid and make me pay again. Both castles are owned by Historic Scotland, so I really hope I can swap.

Gutted though Sad

You know, I dont want to say it to h2b cos I know he is gutted about having to cancel Castle Campbell, but there is a part of me that is really relieved that we are cancelling. The castle was just hard work to get to, I mean really really hard. Its up a really narrow street, with some sharp turns which make it impossible to get a coach to it. So we would need a minibus to shuttle people from about 1-2 miles away. And the path from the car park to the castle was about half a mile of a single track path that was just sooo steep, my calves are sore today after walking it yesterday!

Huntingtower Castle is just off the motorway, its on a flat bit of ground, its just easier in every way! I shouldnt be relieved, but I kind of am.
