i had a quote on for my moms wedding ring to be made bigger for me (she was only a size I) and they said to add some white gold in it will be £50, i thought that was a great price. im thinking of taking it in to be done today but they say it takes a week, i know obviously it cant be done there and then but i cant help worrying if it will be ok lol
its so precious to me, although my mom and dad split up when i was 11 i really cherish this ring and i would hate anythin to happen to it.but then i guess i wont be able to get it done anywhere unless i just do it
im not really sure of the point of this post lol
just letting out me thoughts xxx

Can I ask are you having white gold added to a yellow gold band?

My nan has offered me her wedding ring, which I'd love to have as she's terminally ill and probably wont be around for the wedding in October Sad

Only issue is that its yellow gold and my e-ring is white gold. Dont know if they can add some white to it maybe

Nikki,

It depends on the ring, is it a wide band? To size up my jeweller dad charges something like £10 then £2 per size it's going up. That is 9ct so 18ct will be more. He also tends to do it the same day. Since it's white gold it will need to get rhodium plated as it tarnishes when soldered so it may be that they don't have the machine in the shop so are sending it away. I would go and get more quotes. You are better off with a small independant shop with a jeweller on site than one of the bigger ones.

Yorks, yellow gold can be rhodium plated to look white gold. The resuts are great and will last a couple of years before it needs redone. It should cost about £25.

Hope that helps girls!
