all the really stunning venues we wanted were way out of our price range. We have found a gorgeous place though, its owned by the county council and we fell in love as soon as we saw it (plus had to have been fate as they had just redecorated and the colours are same as the ones we chose for wedding)

Oh that hall looks beautiful! i love the high squared ceiling (I know there must be a proper name for that ceiling, I just dont know what its called!).

The room is gorgeous, and i love all the stained glass in the ceremony room.

I drove past it yesterday and i get all shivery (is that a word?)

You are really lucky to have such a beautiful place for the reception. We have splashed out on the castle, and are saving loads on the reception. Hiring a local bowling club (£90 for the hire, plus we get £30 back the day after! lol) and bringing in a caterer. Our main priorities for the reception was local (so we can all stagger home afterwards!) and cheap alcohol!

we were really lucky! It was recommended to us by a friends hubby who used to be the functions manager for the council.

we have got such a bargin too its only costing us £600 to hire both the ceremony room and the reception room, the grounds etc and we have exculsive use. and cos its the council place the beer is cheap too

Thats a brilliant price!! We are paying £450 to hire the castle for the ceremony, that was the 2008 price. When I emailed to book it at the end of 2008 (how long ago does that seem now?!!) she gave me a price of £900 as that was the 2009 price Oh no, so I emailed back and said I was quoted £450.... and she honoured the price! Who knows what it would have went up to for 2010! So that was my first bit of haggling and my first wedding bargain!

wow that is pricey!!! we originally looked at Cutlers Hall it is gorgeous!!! all the wood pannelling, stairs, and lighting from the SS Olympic (titanic sister ship) which would have been awesome but at 2k just for the hire of the 2 rooms and the whole zero parking issue meant we had to turn it down! our budget is only 3.5k total and the hire of venue and the registrar woulda meant no food, no dress, no invites etc

when i was a little girl every week if there was a wedding id stand with my mom watching the brides getting married and dreaming that one day id get married in that church and my gorgeous h2b has made my dream come true
